Description
Unique opportunity to buy my ex military Minor Traveller in excellent original condition.
Woodwork in excellent (sharp / crisp) condition- no swelling or rotted joints etc - all to be expected for a 5 year old vehicle.
The Morris comes with B certificate of service from the Royal Logistics records office.
It's part of my collection and we have have owned it for Many many years.
The car started out in Service Jan 1969, and was used across the South East ending up in the Royal Logistics, I understand it was most likely a Padre's vehicle.
It was de-mobbed in 1974 with 55, 000 miles (as most Army vehicles went up to this mileage)
From here it was sent for disposal at Ruddington depot. It was sold in 1974 as a running vehicle, interestingly a full reconditioned engine had been installed just prior to disposal.
My Father was always going to Auctions and he used to buy many ex army and govt vehicles.
This car was taken back to Sheffield and put into dry storage - where it has never been out of storage. I brought it to Lincoln when I moved, but other than that- it's never seen the light of day since 1974.
Basically a 5 year old car ( albeit with military service) Never registered, or licensed or been on public roads.
It still carries all its Army insignia from the South East region.
As per military spec, it has all the correct original items like plain door cards, plain passenger trims without armrests, no passenger side sun visor, no mats or coverings in rear compartment etc.
Condition as you can imagine is very dusty / dirty although the interior is just about perfect for a 5 year old car.
The paintwork is mostly original, although has had some paint done when in service.
The bodywork is all original as it left the factory, ie no rot. No rot to chassis or floors- still original factory painted underseal.
Ash woodwork is original as it left the Cowley factory- needs re varnish but no rotten wood and joints all nice and tight.
Still on crossplys, and comes with jack & starting handle.
Condition under the bonnet is lovely- never been welded and paint under bonnet is lovely.
Car starts straight away, runs smooth & quiet, will drive.. amazingly the brakes were still working when last moved here.
Everything works as it should although 1 headlight is cracked ( replacement supplied)
The wiring is excellent, never messed with.
This is a chance to have the most original car ever, with nothing altered / changed since it left Cowley in 1969.
You could leave as it is in "Barn stored" condition or go with sympathetic restoration. Could easily be put to Master Class condition.
Of course if you wanted to use it on the roads, you would have to apply for it's 1st registration (Comes with original Auction receipt from Ruddington dated 03/ 12/ 1974). I believe I have an Auction catalogue somewhere.
Also has an Army stores box in the boot .
Chrome is lovely, as is the perfect headlining.
Am really sad to see this go after all these years of Storage, but I have to slim down my collection and let someone else enjoy it.
Currently stored away in my garage and difficult to get full pictures but will assist where I can. Maybe even can supply details of transport company if required.
Can supply short video of engine running.
Whatever decision the new buyer makes for this car- it could easily be turned into a Concours cars with unique untouched condition ( where most restored cars have had to have the floors / chassis or wood replaced) . Could easily command a value of £16 -20k.
Please do not confuse this with many Shiny 'restored' cars that quite often come with patched up welding and heavy underseal etc, and dubious wood..
This is definitely one to buy, if you want something better and more original than anyone else has.
the details belowUnique original unregistered car, stored since 5 years old.
