Description
Reluctant sale of my 1992 model (registered in 1993) Rover 416 GSi Automatic (we are moving overseas and were going to take the car with us, but now find that that is impractical - we are moving to a country where Rovers were never sold, hence spares and even servicing would be problematical).
I have owned this car for four years and cherished it. It has always been garaged, both by me and its former owners, hence its remarkable condition for its age and mileage. It is in frequent light use, mostly shopping trips as well as the occasional long journey.
The car is in excellent condition outside, virtually no rust, and with only minor scratches and scuffs (and one tiny dent on right hand front wheel arch). You need to be up close to see these imperfections.
The interior looks as if it has been hardly sat in, and comes with a replacement Bluetooth radio with USB ports. The electric sunroof works perfectly, as do the front electric windows (the rears are manual). The headlining is sagging a bit, a common problem with these cars, but I just don't notice it, which is why I've never bothered to fix it.
The alloy wheels are a recent addition, they could do with a refurb, but the tyres are quality brands, are well in date, and have loads of tread left.
The car drives beautifully, is comfortable to ride in, and will more than keep up with modern traffic, including the motorway - 75+ mph cruising is barely bothering it, thanks to the Honda 1. 6L SOHC engine, which is just nicely run in. The transmission works fine, although changes when cold can be slightly jerky, but this is normal with these JATCO transmissions.
The body is all original, never been welded, and is undersealed. The rear section of the exhaust is new. The MOT lasts until July 2026. The cherished number plate is included (that alone is worth £500). A Haynes manual is also included. This car has been to many shows, including the NEC Classic car Show in Birmingham. It never fails to garner admiration from passers-by when I'm out driving in it. I will miss it.
