1977 REGISTERED JAGUAR XJS PRE HE AUTO IN GREEN, EXCELLENT CONDITION.
For sale is an early Jaguar XJS 3 Speed Automatic in very good order, having been dry stored and used intermittently over the last 35 years since a major body restoration. This was carried out by renowned restoration company Classic Coachbuilders of Kent. The bills from this company alone came to an eye watering £22, 155 over a period of 18 years.
The fine workmanship and subsequent careful owners have stood the car in good stead which belies the fact that this car left Browns Lane almost 49years ago.
The car was first registered in March 1977 but a letter from the JEC states that it was actually built in early 76. I am in the process of acquiring the build sheet from Jaguar to confirm this. This may also be backed up by the single oyster type door mirror.
Due to the cars age it is now exempt from vehicle tax, ULEZ and obligatory MOT tests. However, I have just submitted the vehicle for an MOT and having passed is now valid until July 2026.
The car runs and drives very well, no overheating and excellent oil pressure and being a pre HE the engine is extremely powerful and responsive. Refurbishment of the rear axle has just been carried out including overhauled differential along with all new brakes and suspension.
The interior was retrimmed in 2008 and the seats still look good as new today.
The paintwork and bumpers have just had a cosmetic refresh as you can see in the pictures.
There a still a few jobs to do on this car such as engine bay detailing and the driver’s door card requires carpet rectification plus general tidying and a service but I feel I’ve come as far with this car as I would like to go. I have 3 other XJSs which are all crying out for attention and an unexpected loss of storage sadly dictates that this vehicle is being put up for sale.
