For sale is my Azure Blue Lotus Elise S1
Purchased last year with a view to being a ‘forever car’ unfortunately work has got in the way and it’s just simply not getting enjoyed as much as it should. Since my ownership, it has been keep dry stored (this storage is going, another reason for sale) and it hasn’t been used in the wet. Mileage has just clocked over 60k (60, 571) and shouldn’t rise unless being test driven. It has the very desirable and rare OEM hardtop in matching blue – It’s very hard to source these, often you will see aftermarket copies instead. The car also contains a soft top roof that isn't in the best condition.
The car is totally standard except for an air filter swap, steering wheel/ sill re-trim to (match the seats, which are in a not often seen in this colour, dark grey, in great condition from factory) as well as a remote thermostat installation to mitigate any potential K series head gasket concerns. The head gasket was replaced 3000 miles ago, and the timing belt was replaced 4500 miles ago.
Recently fitted with AD08Rs (full tread remains), the car comes with two sets of keys (with cobra alarm fobs) and original documents as well as plenty of service history (available upon request, 2 main ones are uploaded to this advert). There is a blank period of this during ownership, where the car was owned and maintained by a Lotus Master Tech, with a letter from Lotus to confirm this.
The car is great to drive, and has the upgraded Lotus OEM option of Bilstein suspension which is stiffer than the standard optioned Koni dampers. This upgrade really improves the feedback from the car. For its age, the paint looks great, and although there are the expected low level scuffs/ scratches here and there, the overall condition is a testament to the cars careful ownership for the last 25 years and presents itself well. There is no rust/ corrosion/ osmosis on the car, and I welcome any inspection to confirm the condition of the chassis and its components.
With a recent MOT passed with flying colours, all in all, this is a great car that deserves to be cherished by someone with more time than I can afford. As reported in most magazines over the last few decades, the car drives great, turns on a sixpence and is a joy to drive with the roof off. This is a great opportunity to drive an unmolested example which reflects the original build and intention of Lotus with their Elise road car
