Description

You are viewing a 1977 Moto Guzzi Le Mans with period enhancements.

Although the V5C (in my name) lists the first registration as 01/ 08/ 1978 I have a dating certificate dated 12 June 2012 from The Moto Guzzi Club GB dating service stating that, based on the frame & engine numbers, this motorcycle was in fact manufactured in late 1977.

I purchased the Le Mans in January 2017 from Muzzi Moto Limited just as a full rebuild/ restoration was being completed by the renowned Guzzi specialist Nigel Billingsley of NBS. It was completed to my specification. With limited space and other motorcycles, it is now time to pass this fantastic classic onto another custodian.

The mileage at purchase was 22, 993 with MOT certificates every year since then showing the following mileages : 24, 030, 24, 501, 24, 977, 25, 120, 25, 173 and 25, 230 in April 2023.

It has just passed an MOT with the mileage showing 25, 264 miles.

The engine has the 950cc conversion offering greatly enhanced performance in terms of power & torque. Performance is also assisted by a pair of Lafranconi Riservato Competizioni exhausts which also give a great sound !!

As for the notorious Italian electrical system, an electronic ignition module is fitted (retaining the original distributor) and in my ownership I have fitted a complete new wiring loom from Gregory Bender in the US to give the correct wire sizes for the amperage. In addition, a new Yuasa battery has just been installed.

The overall condition of this near 50 year old motorcycle is superb and maybe the best currently available. Paintwork, wheels, forks and other components are in excellent condition and the bike starts, rides & stops superbly. Even neutral is easy to find !!

Tarozzi rearsets are fitted and the private dateless registration number will remain.

The motorcycle is registered Historic so there is no current requirement for an MOT or road tax and, if you’re in London, no ULEZ !

I have a file full of provenance (all former keepers), documents, invoices and information and a box of parts (including the original barrels/ pistons). A workshop manual is also provided.

I have a soft purpose-made cover for the bike and a rare Guzzi sweatshirt. Both will be part of the sale.

The V5C is in my name and there are 2 keys.

I urge any prospective buyers to arrange a viewing so that there are no awkward moments should you buy. I am happy to send more specific photos or a starting/ running video clip – please ask. Test rides will be at my discretion. The bike will be sold as is and with no guarantees or warranties expressed or implied.

The price is £ 11, 995 but I am open to serious offers close to this number.
