Description
This is a 1988 Kawasaki GPZ900R that was imported from Germany and registered in the UK 12 March 2021. I have all the relevant paperwork regarding the registration and the current V5C and MOT which expires 05. 06. 2026. The motorcycle was purchased from Chiemgau-Classics. com in October 2020.
The bike needed some work when I received it the water/ drainage pipe around the petrol cap had been filled in for some reason so water was getting into the carbs!! This has all been repaired. I have tried to keep the motorcycle as original has possible. The exhausts are original black chrome and in good condition. The bike was fitted with new tyres Avon Mark 2 Roadrider a couple of years ago and are in good condition plenty of miles left in them. Additions I have made are Oxford heated grips, Oxford USB port and Sat Nav power cable for TomTom Sat Nav. Please note that the speedometer is in kilometres, not a problem really as I use the sat nav as my speedometer. However the speedo in kilometres a real advantage when touring Europe, which this motorcycle has done twice easily. The RAM holder for the sat nav will be removed so not part of the sale. I have changed the handlebars to ABM street bars making the ride more comfortable and a little less Tom Cruise. Also the screen has been changed to an MRA screen which gives more protection on the long haul. A brand spanking new chain and sprocket have just been fitted at the end of May 2025. I have also fitted an Optimate lead for trickle charging. Around the petrol cap are magnets to take a Hepco & Becker tank bag that may be part of the sale as a separate item if you desire. If not I have the original plates for the Kawasaki and I can replace them.
I also have the original windscreen and original wing mirrors. The wing mirrors have been replaced as the original ones are completely useless. The ones fitted are in keeping with the period and look of the motorcycle. Also included is a box of bits which may be useful or could be sold separately. The bike has had a complete re spray in its original colours and new decals throughout. There is some wear and tear on the bike as you would expect because of its age and it is ridden regularly. The mileage will be more than what is stated in the advert.
This is a great bike to ride has 16” front wheel 17” rear so tucks in a bit quicker. I have toured on this bike without hiccup and took it on a track once to get a feel for it after its rebuild/ repair. 1980’s classic sounds great when you open her up and always turns heads. Reluctant to sell but needs must so if you’re after a classic in good running order and ready to ride make me an offer. Thanks for looking.
PS Comes with two keys and key for seat. Also I have added some bars to the flip out tie down points to ease strapping down a seat bag as well as acting as a buffer between loose saddlebags and side panels. Location Chesterfield UK
