Description

Jaguar Mark 10 with the later 4. 2 engine.
Bought 2 yrs. ago from the original owner's son. 2 owners on V5 (his father & mother)
The car was taken off the road in the 80s as a newer 420g was purchased.
In my ownership the car has been mechanically restored by a qualified specialist, including complete front and rear suspension rebuild with new brake parts, brake and fuel lines, new handbrake and cables. The cooling system was reconfigured to modern standards to avoid any overheating and a new stainless exhaust system fitted. The twin fuel tanks were cleaned and 2 new pumps with glass filters fitted. Triple SU carbs were stripped and rebuilt. Electronic ignition, new coil, plugs and leads. 2 new tyres. The car was then tuned and serviced and successfully completed a run to Le Mans last year without issue. The engine runs sweetly from cold with good oil pressure. The autobox functions well once on the move, although can be a bit slow to engage on first start up.
The beautiful wood interior and leather seats are in good condition, the headlining is not sagging, although the sun visors have lost rigidity. Static rear seatbelts are now fitted to compliment original fronts.
All chromework is in good condition, the original paintwork is ok, but would probably benefit from a thorough polish.
The bodywork, although fundamentally solid is suffering from tinworm in the usual places, wheel arches, jacking points and especially the panel area behind the offside rear wheel. I bought this lovely old car as it is a 2 owner, low mileage, very original car. Now that it is back on the road the remaining issue is the bodywork as described. Unfortunately I no longer have the space to keep her garaged and another Jag project is draining the coffers!
These cars, the largest on the UK roads at one point, are a fantastic drive. Smooth, quick and luxurious, the large glass area contrasting with modern cars, making for a light and airy experience.
So many have gone, they are among the rarest of Jaguar saloons now, and in my opinion need to be treated with the respect they deserve.
Please help save an endangered species of big cat!
