With less than 120 of these cars still on the road I’m looking to sell my very rare 1972 VW Fastback after a 6-yr full body-off restoration. The work has been catalogued with 600+ photos and was used as a reference by Jonny May for the Bangers & Cash, The Restorers car which sold for £22k.
It is running very sweetly, manages 70+mph and stops well. It has no rust and there’s nothing left to weld but it currently sports a few colours of orange. It has new carpets in both boots; new tyres; all engine tin ware blasted & painted; new sills, both sides; brake cylinders (rear wheels); master cylinder; steering dampner; rear brake shoes; rear shock absorbers; front brake pads. It has also had new cylinders, pistons & rings, gaskets, thermostat, spark plugs and plug leads.

£6500 will buy the car and a large number of spare parts. I bought this car just over 6 years ago, Over a period of many years I have owned every type of air cooled VW with the exception of a Karman Ghia. The type 3 was on my car bucket list and the fastback was bought. As it turned out the car was in poor condition which resulted in a 6 year restoration. The car is a joy to drive and turns heads wherever it goes.
