Description

This early model TR7, named Kermit due to its striking Triumph Java green paintwork, has the TR7 bonnet decal and black ribbed velour seats, which are correct for this mark 1 model. Although not concours, it is in excellent usable condition. During ownership I have attended many shows and meetings. Regretfully due to storage restrictions I am having to downsize my small collection.
Extensive refurbishment work has been carried out with bare metal restoration in 1996 (photos available). Dry stored and never driven in the rain since.
Mechanical work carried out since late 1996 includes:
Engine rebuild, replacement gearbox, all brake and suspension components replaced, new fuel tank, pipes & carb, refurbishment of original wheels, new tyres, stainless steel exhaust, Many other serviceable items replaced. I have copies of all parts/ works carried out over the past 30 years (£9, 500 spent).
Located in Scottish Highlands delivery can be arranged anywhere in the UK. Open to reasonable offers. The Triumph TR7 was a British sports car known for its distinctive wedge-shaped design, earning it the nickname “The Shape of Things to Come.” Produced by Triumph under British Leyland, it featured a 2. 0-litre inline-four engine, rear-wheel drive, and a four-speed manual gearbox. Designed to replace the aging TR6 and, indirectly, the MG B, the TR7 was part of British Leyland’s push to modernize its sports car lineup with a sleeker, more contemporary style and improved comfort. Early production took place at the Speke No. 2 plant near Liverpool, a facility that became infamous for industrial disputes and quality-control issues, which in turn shaped much of the TR7’s reputation. While its styling was polarizing, the TR7 offered a more refined interior, better safety features, and a forward-looking design, making it one of the most recognizable—and debated—sports cars of the 1970s.
