Description

I’ve finally accepted that it’s time to sell my ZZR, so I thought I’d offer it here before I put it up on Ebay and similar. I’ve owned it for 27 years and it’s been great, taken me to France, Spain, Italy, Greece and all over, but I’m 71 now and it’s becoming a bit too much for me so it’s time for someone else to take it over.
I’m the 3rd owner, and the bike has done a total of 50, 584 miles, which I can vouch for; that may increase a little over the next week or two. it’s a D1 model, first registered in May 1993, and of course, I have the V5 in my name. It will come with a new MOT.
I’m a professional engineer, and the bike has been properly serviced and maintained throughout it’s life with me. It was last fully serviced 160 miles ago, which included oil, fuel and air filters, oil change, valve clearances checked and shimmed, carbs stripped and cleaned, front brakes stripped, cleaned and new seals, etcetc. The battery is about a year or so old, tyres are good, and it has a new full Black Widow stainless steel exhaust which was fitted about 500 miles ago. It had a new radiator about 5000 miles ago, and it’s fitted with a Scottoiler, which really keeps the chain and sprockets in good order and properly lubricated.
It's in generally very good condition, everything works, there are no tears or damage to the seat, all the fairing mounts and fixings are present and not broken, and it runs and stops as it should. The original toolkit is still with the bike, as well as the original owners manual. There are a few scrapes and scratches as you would expect on a bike of this age, but nothing serious. It still polishes up well.
I’m looking for £1800 for it, which I think is a fair price given the originality and condition; you could of course buy cheaper, and then spend much more on new exhausts, radiators, valve shimming and all the other service and maintenance items which have already been dealt with on this bike. I doubt if there are many, if any, which have survived as unmolested as this. I would also be interested in a swap or deal on a rigid and girders Norton Model 18, 19 or ES2: I've always wanted one!
I’m located near Dundee in Scotland, and know a good bike courier if necessary (The Bike Bus); feel free to PM me if you want any more information.
