1976 Land Rover. Lightweight, coil sprung.
Ex RAF. Decommissioned and first registered for road in 1987.
Designer chassis, 88" coil sprung.
Galvanized chassis, not cut down Range Rover.
200 TDI Rebuilt Engine built by myself. I have been reconditioning Engines for the past 42 years as my Trade / Business.
TD5 intercooler
Discovery 1 200 TDI axles
Original 4 speed gear box with fairey overdrive
Defender +2" suspension with gas shocks.
4x kuhmo 35" off road tyres
Bucket seats ( which will need refurbishing )
Sits at 60/ 70 mph easily
Straight through exhaust, sounds throaty ( shop bought)
This has done very few miles since the rebuild, the odometer does not give a true reading so I can only guess at less than 2, 000 miles.
We have no idea on the original mileage.
Ground up restoration done by myself and friends in the motor trade to a high standard with new swivels, bearings, seals, bushes etc.
Bulk head refurbished with solid top.
Historic Vehicle so it is tax exempt.
It has just been for its Mot and passed with no advisories so now has a full 12 months.
Date of 1st registration 23/ 04/ 87.
We have owned this since 13/ 03/ 2005
Only selling due to us not being as young as we once were and health issues.
After 20 years of fun times and good memories we will be sad to see it go.
Asking price £10, 000 ONO. This is a one off vehicle, with its big visual presence, and unique shape of the rear cage and hood. It definitely stands out, but still very obviously a lightweight.
With its bespoke galvanised chassis (not cut down or shortened off another vehicle) it will stand the test of time.
All bespoke aluminium wheel arches give it more stance .
Plenty of power from the 200tdi engine coupled with a 4 speed gearbox and Fairey overdrive, allows it to keep up with modern traffic and driving conditions effortlessly.
With Defender plus 2" springs and gas shocks and dislocation cones, it is also a very capable off road and green laner.
Always brings a smile to your face when driving, and lots of comments and interest from people wherever you go.
