Land Rover Series 3 88" Lightweight Military 12 Volt Galvanised Chassis
1980 Very nice example. 12 volt vehicle, 2. 25 petrol model.

A rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional example of a very desirable Land Rover Series 3 Lightweight Soft Top. Last owner for 7 years.
First went into service 1st February 1980 to JSCS Ashchurch. It then went to RAF Brize Norton-Lyn BSW. Before being sold off 2nd June 1993. It was then registered for road use on 25th August 1993.
There are lots of invoices for work done to the vehicle over the years and also previous mots. Between 2022 and 2023 the vehicle came into us and had a lot of refurbishment work done to it. Copies of work carried out can be shown to any interested parties.
BODYWORK
The body is overall in great shape and all the panels are remarkably straight considering it is an ex military vehicle. New canvas hood was fitted.
The rear tub unlike most Land Rovers is remarkably straight in the back and doesn't show any signs of hard use. Rear bench seats have been fitted so the vehicle can carry a total of 7 people.
The bulkhead is exceptionally solid and requires no attention.
The chassis is a new galvanised and so is in great condition.
This vehicle has always had a spare wheel fitted on the bonnet it is in new condition and secured correctly with the straps.
INTERIOR
It has a complete set of new front seats. The vehicle has the original smiths square heater mounted to the centre of the bulkhead with demisters for the windscreen.
The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use.
UNDER THE BONNET
The engine bay has been left completely standard, including the original 2. 25 petrol engine, 12 volt system the engine runs very well. It is the 3 bearing crank engine. It really does drive with plenty of power and will happily sit at 60mph without any problem.
ON THE ROAD
The engine busts into life on the turn of the key. It always starts first time and is a great runner. The vehicle really does pull very well and is a joy to drive. The is no play in the drivetrain and it drives very well.
The vehicle will be supplied with a 12 month MOT with no advisories. Although exempt we still recommend having one but it is at the buyers discretion.
The gears change up and down as they should the main box and transfer box both function correctly.
Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, this is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place.
We have recently serviced and refurbished the vehicle it had a refurbished gearbox, new clutch, new exhaust, new manifold, fan belt, full service, door seals, new hood stick set, new door cards, new mats, choke cable, coolant hoses and clips, distributor cap, arm and leads, new radiator, new lights, new rear bench seats. Lots of other cosmetic jobs.
SUMMARY
This is a fantastic example of a Series 3 lightweight and there aren't many around in such original and great condition.
This is one of the best value for money Lightweights available. This Land Rover has obviously been cared for and cherished by its previous owners. It is a fantastic example that requires no work and is ready to use and enjoy.
