Description
A 1968 Triumph Spitfire Mk3 in the iconic signal red colour. This car has undergone a full restoration in recent years to bring it up to the exceptional condition it is in today while still retaining that feel of originality with the period steel wheels and genuine chrome hub caps. During the restoration, recorded in a huge file of invoices totalling many thousands of pounds, the car was fitted with a later and fully overhauled 1500 engine for enhanced performance.
The car is a pleasure to drive: the clutch and gearbox are light and responsive, and the brakes are excellent. The mileage is showing as just 5, 600 but this is probably since restoration. The foldaway hood is superb condition, and the car is complete with stainless exhaust, tonneau, hood cover, spare wheel and jack. The huge history file includes old MOT certificates, tax discs, bills, handbooks and original brochures.
Cheap to run with spares readily available, easy to work on and MOT and road tax exempt, the Spitfire is an ideal starter classic. I owned my first when I was 17 (many decades ago) and have always loved them. Previously owned by two of my friends, the car is well known in our local clubs. Reason for sale: arthritic knees make entry/ exit more difficult than it used to be!
