Description

For Sale - 1988 Renault Alpine GTA ATMOS

A rare Renault GTA ATMOS for sale in the desirable and rare black paintwork. Current mileage is 44, 421 with large documented history file and receipts.

The car has been maintained meticulously and regardless of cost by Renault specialist John Law, to make this car one of the best low mileage examples in the UK.

The interior is in near mint condition and one of the best I have seen for the year, and the car always gets positive attention and admiration at car events.

I estimate I have spent approximately £10, 000 - £12, 000 recommissioning this car to a very high-standard, eradicating any maintenance issues, while hugely improving the reliability, performance and drivability.

Jobs to date are as follows: -

New Weber DGAS 38 Carburettor and jets – replacing original unreliable solex carburettor

New steel front to rear coolant pipes – engine out job

New master and slave cylinders

New accelerator cable

New rocker cover gaskets

New silicone coolant pipes

New polypex gear linkage changers

New radiator

New oil sensor

New oil dipstick and housing

New rear exhaust system

New fan sensor

New starter motor

Electric window motors replaced

Light pods removed and cleaned

New clutch

New bearing and main oil seal

New antiroll bar

These cars were very advanced for 1988 in engineering terms, benefiting from a light weight laminated polyester bodyshell, steel backbone chassis, integrated front and rear spoilers, electrically assisted release door mechanism, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, central door locking, two rear seats with folding baggage shelf, driver digital info centre, sports seats.

The car was one of the most aerodynamic production cars of it’s time, and the performance for the period was similar to Porsche and Lotus sports cars of the late 1980's. The engine is a 2. 8 V6 with a 0-60 time of 7. 5 seconds and a top speed of a 140 mph.
