I have owned this MX-5 1. 8 SE since 2017, and have covered 50, 000 miles in it, with trips all over the UK. In that time, I’ve have undertaken significant investment in the following;
- Mohair Hood
- Front chassis rails professionally welded 2 years ago
- New rear wheel arches and respray along both sides
- Annual servicing, including cambelt change
- Goodyear tyres (car is on 14 inch wheels rather than original 15s as these are better suited to local roads)
With an MX-5, the structure is most important, and this is where this car shines, having had all of the right work done.
The bodywork is bright, and regularly polished, looking smart for its age. There are marks and imperfections; the front bumper is crazed and has stone chips, there are minor bubbles around the screen, and little scratches on the body from regular enjoyment. Minor dent on driver’s wing from a trolley or car door (visible in photo).
The interior is clean and hasn’t been smoked in; the leather seats are worn, and the driver’s bolster will need to be repaired. The steering wheel and gear knob are both wood Nardi items, factory fitted, and really suit the car.
Mechanically, the car has a recent new battery and had a new cat a few years ago. The car starts and drives very well, with no leaks or concerns. I don’t drive the car hard and the car’s mechanical condition reflects this. It has had a number of brake caliper replacements in my ownership.
Specification includes power steering, electric windows and heated glass rear windscreen. I have fitted an excellent Bluetooth and DAB radio which allows phone calls, and music streaming.
Only selling due to need for a larger automatic convertible.
It has always been serviced in my ownership, has MOT until November, and is available to view most days, as I’m retired. (My son has advertised it on my behalf). Very rare specification being a 1. 8 SE; one of 500 made, according to my research.
