Description

1997 Rover Mini Cooper MPI 1275cc - 71, 500 miles - A real head turner

I am regrettably selling my beloved Mini Cooper MPI after 13 years of careful ownership.

This car is a real head turner and I constantly get compliments wherever I take her, whether it be a car show or a supermarket. She has been my pride and joy for the last 13 years and has been garaged the entire time when not in use.
With her wide arches and eye catching wheels she really has a presence on the road.

With an extensive history spanning its entire life since production, I have kept every invoice and receipt from every piece of work that’s been carried out on her.
In 2012 she was reversed into and therefore had the entire front body work replaced and in 2016 she failed her MOT due to rust around the drivers floor pan and seals. She was off the road for a year until 2017 where I had the floor pan and the seals all restored and the bottom of the car undersealed. All of this work is documented and photographed and has all been carried out by professionals.

The majority of the early work was carried out by the well-known Mini Restorer, Dave Horne of Spot-on Mini's based in Hertfordshire. A true legend in his field and true artisan of his trade.

It has on average driven around 1000 miles per year over the past 4 years and has passed every MOT with only the usual minor advisories.

I recently had the ball joints and arms replaced and fitted a new battery so she is in peak performance.

Specs:
71, 500 miles
Engine is a standard 1275cc with the only addition being a K&N air filter. I still have the original and all the fittings to remove and restore if you wish.
Stainless steel exhaust fitted in 2013
13" JDW Deep dish alloys
Yoko tyres all round
Black faux leather SPI front seats and rear cushion.
Retro fitted speakers

Areas which need attention
The MOT states a slight oil leak as a minor advisory. I have attempted to find and fix said leak many times over the years without success, but to more skilled eye I'm sure its fixable.
Fuel gauge has become temperamental
The underside of the doors are showing signs of rust along with a few bubbles appearing on the outer skins.
The boot pan has had a bad attempt at treating and filling the rust. I haven't touched this since I owned it as it was always on my list to restore the whole section.
Could do with a decent service and a tune up.
Interior - Dashboards lacquer has started to lift due to water damage, which happened prior to my ownership.

I am only selling her as I don’t drive her as much as she deserves and having a young family, I just don’t have the time to carry on restoring her.
