Road and Track TR7 V8 4 litre
We need to find a new home for my Father-in-law, Arthur's much loved 1981 TR7 V8. He campaigned it for many years in the TR Register Sprint and Hill Climb Championship achieving numerous 1st and 2nd in class. He was also a regular at the Brighton Speed Trials and many track days. Life takes it toll however, and now Arthur is in a care home suffering from dementia. The car though is still in fine shape thanks to the care and attention lavished on it. Over the 25 years in his ownership he spent upwards of £50k on it and it’s been developed beautifully. We have virtually all the invoices too so an excellent record of parts used and work completed, a lot of the development carried out by marquee specialist Derek Hunniset and Jeff Taylor Motorsport.
Having driven it I can honestly say it’s got one of the finest short shift gearboxes I have ever experienced. It’s a joy to use. Although developed for competition use the car is also completely road legal and registered as an historic vehicle so no road tax. It’s a breeze to drive in traffic too, not at all temperamental, but it can deliver fierce performance when asked. It’s a really versatile blend of road and track car. I haven’t driven it anywhere near its limits but it does feel so well planted on the road and inspires a lot of confidence. Body work is in fine shape with just the odd blemish here and there as you’d expect for its age. It's just come back from having a good check over by Derek Hunnisett and comes with a new MOT too. Overall it's a fine, solid, honest car just begging to be used.
We’re having to sell it now to raise funds for Arthur's care home fees but, most importantly, we want to find a good home for it where, perhaps, it will carry on to compete and give as much pleasure to someone else as it did to Arthur.
