This Fiat 128 1100 CL from 1977
This is truly in exceptional condition, original and never restored. With just 86000 km of total mileage and only one scrupulous owner for over 45 years, this car is truly a "time machine", original in every way, inside and out, mechanically, with a structure and bodywork absolutely immune to rust.
Its history is interesting: being exhibited at during 1977 at Fiat stands, motor shows, exhibitions and fairs throughout Europe (Amsterdam, Geneva, Frankfurt). In fact, it is an example of a 128 that Fiat decided to allocate to journalists' tests at international exhibitions. The car was intended for the press and to be displayed under the spotlight, this 128 was enlisted after scrupulous checks and above all it presents the specifications of cars destined for Northern European markets, with better anti-rust and soundproofing treatments.
In 1977 it was sold to a Fiat employee at the garage cars for the press and registered in Turin on 28 September of the same year. As was customary at the time for many employees of the Turin company, the car was resold after just six months to purchase another new Fiat. It was purchased by a railway employee who used it with almost obsessive care until 2004 and storing in a dry and heated garage.
After his death the car was purchased within a small collection of classics in 2023 by a dealer in Turin.
The engine oil, filters, battery and timing belt was replaced to get this splendid car back into operation, inspected inside and out and passed the Italian technical bi annual inspection (aka MOT).
In early 2024 I bought and imported the car to the UK.
All import documentation was completed and is now registered, TAX, ULEZ and MOT Exempt.
The car was then fully serviced and checked, with new tyres and brakes all round.
Number plates are period correct from Italy with a UK reg, not easy or cheap.
The instruction booklet, all Italian documents, jack lift and original tool bag are all present.
Used and enjoyed regularly it has been a pleasure to own and look after, she is no garage princess, I have resisted the desire to fully valet, but an impeccable example of car conservation and originality.
A good starter and a lovely drive that takes you back to 1977, I should know I had one then as well!
