Descrição
FORD CAPRI 3. 5 v8 Auto
3. 5 litre SD1 engine and BW65 3 speed auto box
Engine has had a new standard cam installed circa 2018 with new lifters and timing chain to freshen it up. Runs very nicely, not smokey or tappy ect. Oil changed yearly. Have owned the engine since 2012 when it was in another car of mine.
- Adapted inlet manifold with a weber 38DGMS (manual choke)
- Custom triple core radiator and twin cooling fans on a thermostatic switch (comes on when engine hits 90degrees and goes off at 85) Also has a manual over-ride switch on the dash so it can be turned on and off whenever.
- Electronic ignition
- Facet red top (maybe silver top?) fuel pump mounted under the tank.
- Custom propshaft to standard capri rear axle.
- Battery mounted in the boot
- Capri 2. 8/ 3. 0 mild steel twin exhaust system - sounds fantastic but also isn’t loud or droney on the motorway. I also have the old side exit system available (that really is loud!)
- Single leaf 2. 8 springs (new in 2020ish)
- Rear axle location kit
- Mk2 front and rear bumpers
- Mk2 grill with escort mk1 indicators mounted within just like the American capris
- Rear low profile louvre by autoplas (rear wiper deleted)
- Good condition original parcel shelf
- Hydraulic bonnet ram kit
- BMW E30 headlight conversion
- Bluetooth radio hidden inside original head unit shell – just connects to your phone when you enter the car and turn on the ignition.
- Front hubs and rear shafts professionally converted to 5 stud American ford pattern by Wisbeach engineering. Currently centreline style 14x7” wheels fitted with excellent tyres. – I can revert back to standard 4x108 if preferred.
- Genuine 60s/ 70s wood rim Mustang steering wheel made by “Superior” re drilled to fit an aftermarket capri boss.
- Full black interior from a Ghia. Some trim parts dyed black – The dash is probably a bit too shiney but it has no sun cracks, just a small dent hidden under the sticker other than that the interior is very tidy.
- New TCAs
- Original strut tops in excellent condition.
- Reasonable amount of welding done previous and since my ownership – has had new rear arches, rear lower corners, driver and passenger footwells as well as little bits on the inner wings, wing rails and headlight bowls – two new aftermarket front wings recently fitted as well as repairs to the front valance. All solid underneath however and gets its yearly MOT. Never intentionally driven in the rain or winter and always garaged.
- Built in 1984 so is tax exempt and registered as so on the log-book. (Not MOT exempt as it has a non-standard engine)
- Originally a 2. 0 laser in “laquer red” – which is a sort of maroon. All panels not original to the car have been painted in 2k black to protect them and then overpainted in rattle-can satin black – good quality paint and a very nice finish achieved.
Loads of pictures available including works carried out such as welding etc. More pictures and a couple of videos here...

Overall it is a really nice presentable mad max style car that sounds and feels very much like a muscle car. Had a manual gearbox to fit but genuinely prefer the auto for the feel. It has gone through quite a bit in my ownership (since 2017) to the point where I would confidently get in it and drive it anywhere without worry. It definitely isn’t the most powerful engine in the world but it is reliable, smooth and sounds fantastic, plenty of opportunity for upgrading if so desired.
I really don’t want to sell the car as I’ve built it and modified to my own taste but needs must!
