Description
Beautiful Black, 1984 Capri 2. 0 Sport 5 speed manual
This car has been restored and modified with engine, suspension, brake, cooling system and electrics upgraded for fast road use.
5 Years ago it received a full body restoration by Bly & son Classics in Derby, this included a full strip down, all required welding and new panels and a full respray including the under bonnet. This was reportedly £40, 000
The work involved:
Dyna matted throughout
The fitting of a heated windscreen (not sure why as unusually for a Capri the original heater fan works on both speeds)
Additional fuse and relay board for the engine fan, heated windscreen and fuel pump
New headlining
Original seats retrimmed by Aldridge trimming in a plain black material and with tennis racket headrests.
New carpet fitted
Cobra alarm/ immobiliser installed
Kenwood DAB stereo fitted
New wheel bearings all round
Front brakes updated with Hi Spec billet 4 pot callipers
RS200 lowered front struts
Spax adjustable shock absorbers all round
New top mounts and polybushed throughout
New S decals
New bumpers and bumper end caps
Refurbished original 4 spoke wheels (inc spare)
Matching set of 185/ 60R13 Nangkang sticky tyres
White dial kit fitted (this means the dials are readable at night)
Aluminium radiator
New fuel tank
Electric cooling fan with thermo switch
At the same time the engine was rebuilt by Vulcan engineering (at a cost of £7, 500), this included:
205 block balanced and displacing 2066cc with new bearings, pistons, oil pump, timing belt and tensioner
Group 1 unleaded cylinder head
New inlet manifold and weber twin 40s
High lift WR40 camshaft kit
Facet electric fuel pump
Filter king pressure regulator
Multi branch manifold and stainless steel exhaust system giving it a sporty rasp
Type 9 5 speed gearbox rebuilt and new clutch fitted
The end result is a very impressive looking capri with power, handling and braking much improved over standard. It maintains great oil pressure and stable engine temperature. The sunroof works as does the heater fan
This sleek looking Capri turns heads and gets comments wherever it goes. Its not concourse but is a great, impressive and usable fast road Capri that looks striking in Black.
Items still requiring attention:
HRW not working as the terminal has detached from the glass
Dash top discoloured and cracked
Dash fascia cut for modern stereo
Leather on steering wheel worn through
Rear parcel shelf starting to crack
The car is available to view in Leatherhead
