The Appeal
For enthusiasts of the MGB GT classic vehicles, this car represents an opportunity to own a genuine early chrome bumper series car in beautiful restored condition.
The certified factory record confirms the build date of 6-7 June 1967 which has been the basis of maintaining the original features of the vehicle. Such features include restored black leather seating with original blue piping, dashboard with original large steering wheel and steel wheels with original chrome hub caps. These wheels are becoming quite rare now having been replaced with wire wheels or mini-lites. These wheels feature in early MGBs delivered to the police force.
The aluminium bonnet has been retained.
The engine and gearbox were over-hauled and modern improvements made where necessary to enhance and improve the drivability of the car. The engine runs very smoothly and pulls extremely well. The handling is also good with improved and upgraded suspension.
18th September 2025 - photos added showing rear boot and spare wheel (matching with road wheels), rear boot pockets with carpets lifted, front footwells with mats/ carpets lifted, fuel tank (note:- top panel was fully wax-oyled before installation) and various photos of underside. The under-seal is showing some wear/ minor patches and could do with a refresh in places. These patches are only cosmetic. The body structure is sound. The car has been owned by me since 2003 - the car was subject to full structural and mechanical rebuild by Phoenix Cars - (Roger Taylor) in 2009.
Car was completely dismantled - Body was completely stripped and new sections / panels fitted where necessary - this included new inner and outer sills, floor pans, inner and outer wings, door skins, rear hatch door. The original aluminium bonnet was retained. Picture history available.
The engine was completely rebuilt with head gas flowed. (Not too extreme but enough to increase performance by noticeable amount), with new performance stainless exhaust manifold and and exhaust system. Carbs serviced and correctly jetted for extra performance. K&N filters
