Description
I have for sale my 1965 Daimler 2. 5 V8 saloon, which has been in storage for many years.
Unfortunately age is catching up with me, and I have too many projects, which means that this car would have to wait for too long in the queue; it would be better to pass it on to someone who can give it the time it needs.
It’s in need of a full restoration, or could be an excellent source of spare parts for another car.; with the cost and availability of spares these days this would be a good investment.
The car is virtually complete, as far as I am aware the only missing parts are hub caps, air filter, the odd hose and so on. I removed the interior some time ago and stored it in the roof of my garage to keep it away from mice, damp etc. The woodwork is all present though in need of refurbishing, and the leather has lasted well. I threw the carpets out as they were well past their best and replacements are readily obtainable. The spider webs come free!
Mechanically the engine turns over freely, the brakes have been removed and soaked in diesel, and the car moves freely. It drove into it’s current location some years ago.
As you will see from the pictures, it needs all the usual Daimler / Jaguar body issues dealt with; e. g. sills, crows feet, front arch repairs, and so on; and then a decent paint job to finish. Not a small job, but worthwhile; and all the repair panels are available.
This car is definitely not a few weekends’ work; however, anyone who restores this will absolutely know what they have by the time it’s finished. For myself, I think it’s worth restoring as they are becoming fewer and fewer, and they are a lovely car to drive and own.
I will not break it, or sell any parts separately; I could however be interested in a swap or deal on a rigid and girders Norton Model 18, 19 or ES2, or other vintage / classic motorcycle.
It will need to be trailered away, it’s certainly not currently fit for the road; there are various people who do that if you don’t have that capability, but please keep that in mind.
I have the logbook for the car in my name, and I’m located near Dundee in Scotland; feel free to drop me a line if you want any more information.
