Description
1988 Toyota Celica CT 2. 0 - A rare 80’s UK Spec Convertible
Having only had 4 former keepers, this is a good example that has only covered 80k miles and also comes with a MOT till June 2026. This example has had a lot of money spent on the car, such as a new hood and Targa insert recovered with the same material, and some recent engine work, all new tyres and refurbished wheels.
This includes a new clutch (receipts present), water pump, battery, belts, oil inc. plugs and filters etc… plus a brand new fuel pump a week ago.
The car remains original and presents well for its age. However, with all classic cars it isn't perfect, nor is it concourse. The car has some areas of improvements, such as some rust spots in the boot and windscreen, as well as other little bubbles here and there… nothing that requires any attention now. But other than this, the paintwork presents well and the car remains very original!
The interior also is in good condition, with some minor imperfections. The radio does not work, however there is a working stock replacement radio that will be supplied with it and there is a small cigarette burn in the driver's seat, but the car remains good and it’s very comfortable to drive, doesn’t smell of cigarettes either. The electric arial does not seem to function, however this could be linked to the radio not working.
This example comes with a good history folder, which includes very good service history, including a stamped service book (11 stamps). The most recent service was carried out at 79, 907 miles. There are also some tax discs, owner's manuals, handbooks, and also present is the original bill of sale, whereby it was used as a Toyota dealer's demonstrator car (whereby the mileage at the time was 40k miles and was sold for £11, 000).
The Celica GT is hard to find and are very sought after. They are even rarer in the convertible, due to not being very common in Europe, which makes them very unique as well. Believed to be one of 500 made? A sound and useable investment!
