Description
Here we have my MX5 Eunos in white, marked as a special edition on the sticker, just MOT’d with 12 months MOT, low mileage of just 65k. Being a Eunos it has power steering and electric windows. Some sensible additions – stainless steel exhaust which gives a lovely sound but not too loud. Genuine Eunos engine brace. Upgraded LED lights in original unit. Upgraded heat-wrapped exhaust manifold. Black style bar which sets the car off nicely. Tyres are like-new – Toyo Proxes on front and Uniroyal Rainsport on rear for excellent grip. Mohair roof with glass back in good condition. Really nice leather OMP steering wheel, slightly smaller in diameter to a regular wheel it gives much more control and a bit more legroom too. Leather original MX5 seats fitted. Carbon Fiber gear knob. Grooved and vented brake discs – much better stopping power compared to originals. The engine and drive on this car is excellent, if you have driven a few MK1’s you will know how the drive and power can vary amongst different cars, this is up there with the best. This 1. 6 engine feels punchier than most MK1’s I’ve driven even later higher-powered 1. 8s, probably down to the exhaust upgrades pushing it past the performance of other standard cars. Engine revs freely and the car handles superbly with no drama or knocks over bumps and potholes. Really needs to be driven to be appreciated.
Condition wise the car is very good, original spot weld’s on arches, lower sills look very clean with no signs of corrosion and underneath is generally very tidy. Bodywork and paintwork is overall good with the odd minor blemish up close, not pristine but very presentable.
I’m an owner’s club member and purchased this car based on the lack of rust, good history and the excellent drive of the car. The previous owner was a mechanic and kept the car in his large lockup with other cars, he maintained it well and rarely took it out. I purchased last year and due to a house move I just haven’t had the time to use it much, due to ongoing renovations and lack of space I’ve decided to let it go.
Very much priced to sell, hard to find clean low mileage examples, at this price with the prices going up year on year it is pretty much a free car/ investment you can enjoy. I know the first person to view and drive the car will buy and be very pleased.
Viewings and test-drives welcomed. Strictly no timewasters, if you are not sure about buying an MX5 MK1 please don’t waste my time or your own. Additionally this is not a brand-new car, it is over 30 years old so please keep that in mind! Any questions please just ask!
