Description
1982 Ducati Pantah 500SL, limited memorial edition, in exceptional original, unrestored condition.
The Pantah was the first Ducati engine to use belt driven camshafts, developed from the GP500 race engines of the late 70’s it offers exceptional performance from a classic desmo V twin engine, capable of 115mph. Lighter and shorter than previous models, the Pantah is at home both on the road and track thanks to it’s Mazocchi suspension, triple Brembo disc brakes and straight tube trellis frame. With a hefty price tag when new, the Pantah benefits from extremely high build quality, stable high-speed handling, good braking and a responsive, free ¬revving engine.
This particular example was painted from new by Ducati in Mike Hailwood colours and was displayed in the UK main dealer Moto Vecchia Surrey. It still displays the Moto Vecchia logo on the front fairing and tail piece. Other original features include chrome Conti exhaust and silencers, rebuilt Brembo brakes, Ducati/ FPS gold cast alloy wheels, Dellorto carburettors, new tyres and battery.
The first owner bought the bike in November 1982 and kept the bike for 21 years where it was in a private collection, after that it has had several careful owners with full documented history. The current owner has owned the bike for several years and spared no expense, always keeping it in heated storage and using it sparingly. It has most recently been used on a Spanish motorbike tour where it performed flawlessly and always attracted a crowd wherever it went.
This bike benefits from upgraded Koni rear shock absorbers (original Marzocchi’s included), new tyres and arguably the best colour scheme. Otherwise it is perfectly original and a great addition to a collection or has a regular rider.
