Description
Paris built and sold new to Switzerland. This 11 BN was purchased secondhand by an English student who went on to carve out a career in the Swiss oil industry. On his return to the UK in 1982 he handed the car to marque expert John Gillard who carried out a full restoration. This included a bare metal respray, rewire and fresh upholstery. The engine and gearbox were overhauled and ancilliaries replaced. Suspension components were renewed including the Silent Blocs. On his passing many years later the family kept the car for five years before selling to a dealer from whom I purchased it.
I fitted a new set of Michelin tyres and tubes, a replacement exhaust and had James Geddes of Morpeth recommision the car including an overhaul of the brakes.
It drives beautifully. Even impressing my dour Citroen trained friend. An instant starter it now runs better than ever since I had an original reconditioned Solex carburetter fitted. It has been upgraded to 12 volts and is fitted with windscreen washers. Latterly I had inertia reel safety belts fitted with straps which match the colour of the interior. A new exhaust manifold has just replaced the original as it had cracked.
Structure of the body is superb, not a patchwork of welding. The paintwork shows very little sign of use and carries a strong shine.
Chrome work is excellent and the interior a lovely place to be.
The steering wheel has some cracks to the finish but replacements are available. We have covered many trouble - free miles in this car and I feel confident in describing it as being one of the best examples available. John Gillard suggested that an appropriate valuation would be £16000 to £17000 and it is insured for £16500.
