For sale 1956 BSA Clipper, competition model, an export only to America ‘green lane’ Gold Star.
It has been restored, stored and now recommissioned, it is in good order.
As can be seen there are dents in the tank, rims have some rust but otherwise this bike is in good condition and runs very well.
A BSA owners club dating certificate is present from 17th June 2019 which states “dispatched to Hap Alzina, Oakland, California, USA on the 11th October 1956”.
The engine is from a 500cc BSA B34 Clipper competition model, dispatched to the same agent on the 11th of May 1956.
A V5c is present in my friends name (I have authority to make the sale) which shows this vehicle is registered as ‘Historic Vehicle’ therefore no tax or MOT is required.
My friend tasked me with bringing this bike out of storage, getting it running and ready to sell. This I have now completed. The work involved stripping the carburettor, stripping and cleaning the Lucas ‘wader’ magneto, priming the oil pump, removing the cylinder head, refitting it along with replacement gaskets. Having completed a number of miles I have changed the oil in readiness for onward use. There was no debris found in the sump or in the oil taken out.
I have ridden it several miles, it runs beautifully, starts easily, ticks over well, there is a good oil return.
I have downloaded various parts books and repair manuals during the process of recommissioning, all will be included as part of the sale along with a new head and two base gaskets. Overhauled by previous owner (I believe in the US), imported back to UK approx 10 years ago and dry stored. Now up and running in good order.
