The 1961 Rover P4 is a reliable classic. It's easy to live with, simple to work on and parts availability is still quite good.
The engine and gearbox are strong and with overdrive its perfectly comfortable at modern road speeds.
This car was manufactured in July 1961 and first registered in December 1961.
It carries its correct original chassis number on the manufacturer's plate within the LH front door aperture.
It remains in the manufacturers original specification including aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid. The engine is the later 7-main-bearing version of Rover six-cylinder unit as introduced for this model and is matched with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Original documents (including handbook) date from the early 60s, whilst there is detail from the 80s onwards.
An LPG (liquid petroleum gas) conversion was installed in 2005, allowing the car to run equally on petrol or LPG. This has been achieved without detriment to the original vehicle and is reversible if so desired.
