This is an ex army vehicle
The previous owner bought it, in July 2021, from Simmonites Ltd who specialise in converting ex army Land Rovers. Mileage was 123660 so it’s done 11726miles to now.
I bought it in Nov 2022 specifically to take each year to Mallorca and use through the summer months before bringing it back to the UK. In the UK it gets virtually no use and stays garaged in a dehumidified environment.
In my ownership I’ve done the following
The original roll cage and bikini cover has been replaced by a Safety Devices Defender 90 Soft Top (L236) which gives a far better look than the other flimsy stick sets. This is covered with an Exmoor Trim Hood XS SF Sand 90 with Spare Wheel Carrier Cut Out including belt rail & tailgate bar
I wasn’t happy with the motorway cruising engine revs and there was also a poor synchro on 4th gear, so after discussion with Simmonites the gearbox was reconditioned and a 1. 2 ratio transfer box was fitted. The result was so much better. At the same time there was a clutch renewal.
Other work in my ownership has been Alternator, Starter Motor and Ring Gear and the fitting of a battery Cut off switch.
There is a sentinel immobiliser which was fitted by Simmonites
Originally the car was fitted with a central front seat but that was replaced by a cubby box. The seat is available for use and shown in the photographs. All the seating is Exmoor Trim. MOT until next May.
Engine is 200Tdi
The car has been a joy to own and has done everything we needed it to do, however, the journey to Mallorca each year isn’t making sense so I’m going to buy a Spanish Registered Land Rover to the same specification and leave it in Mallorca. I’ll happily do a swap!
