Description
Beautiful 1936 Alvis Firebird in British Racing Green Offered For Private Sale.
One of only 25 Alvis Firebirds built with this Cross and Ellis four seater open tourer body so very rare now and very much admired by many. Firebirds share the same chassis, axles, body, wheels and brakes as the Speed Twenty hence why it looks so similar. This lovely car still has it's original four cylinder 1850cc overhead valve engine, body, chassis and gearbox etc. and was family owned for its first 67 years. Chassis and body rebuilt approximately 20 years ago and engine fully rebuilt in 2019. Just been serviced and ready to be enjoyed.
This car is smooth, comfortable and reliable with excellent steering and suspension and a lovely exhaust note and she will gallop along happily at 60MPH. She has a good hood and serviceable tonneaux cover and side screens and the paintwork is very glossy and the green interior trim is very tidy. Everything works the way it should. Unlike many old cars, this lovely Firebird starts on the button when cold or hot and even when damp and is impervious to misfires in heavy rain. She doesn't overheat nor does she burn oil or use water. This lovely Alvis is what we call a 'Properly Sorted' car. The lights are good and she has discreet indicators fitted. The original Alvis four speed synchromesh gearbox is a joy and must be the best and smoothest gearbox ever.
This is a reluctant sale (for personal reasons) as she has carried us comfortably through Europe on several magnificent tours and a is comfortable long distance tourer indeed. She won Best in Show at Hintlesham Hall Car Show in 2025 with over 1, 000 cars entered along with winning many awards at Alvis Owner Club events.
Price just reduced for a quick sale. Now's your chance!
