Description
Bike in virtually original condition a part from the items mentioned below, it doesn't look as if it has been ridden in the rain. The chrome and alloy work are bright and practically untarnished, indicative of careful ownership, the Borrani wire wheels are in lovely condition. Switchgear and instrumentation are intact with only minimal signs of age. This bike, it is better than many showroom machines.
The fuel tank was recently stripped, beautifully repainted and re-lined. After repainting, I replaced both petcocks and fuel lines. The new taps are 3 position type (off, main, reserve) as fitted to Moto Guzzi, Ducati, etc. The system has been refuelled and the bike started. Sounds absolutely awesome.
Rare front fairing, aftermarket rear carrier, recent new battery. Exhausts pipes and megaphones replaced in stainless to original pattern. This bike was UK registered on 10 March 1981, I bought it in March 2008. Owning Harleys at the time, I longed for an Sei which I intended to keep and enjoy when I retired, it was kept it in heated storage but took the occasional ride out.
My retirement was accompanied by unfortunate health issues and one by one my bikes and classic cars were sold. The Benelli was eventually registered as SORN in the hope I would become fit and able to take to the road again but sadly my last bike is now for sale. Lovely bike to ride, responsive, sweet, easy handling. The six megaphone exhaust sound belies the engine smoothness, open the throttle and the revs rise to a spine chilling howl. Peak horsepower is at 8500 rpm, max rpm 9000 - the sound of six cylinders pulling these revs through the six megaphones is magnificent - breath-taking. You need to ride a Benelli to experience the engine.
This is an original superbike. Today's machines may offer more performance but do they possess the elegance, panache and Italian flair of a 750 Sei?
Riding an Sei is something special, a privilege, it stirs the blood, it has a subtle character that becomes exhilarating and far surpasses mere appearances. Fire it up and the bike comes alive, the rider becomes one with the machine, it has to be ridden to be experienced. I shall be sorry to part with my femme fatale of the open road.
Only a limited number of 750 Sei were produced before the larger, less desirable, 900 Sei was released. A 750 Sei in this original condition is now rare and sought after. But, the bike is not overpriced as I wish to sell to someone who will continue to enjoy owning such an iconic piece of Italian motorcycle history,
The Sei comes with a file of documentation including MoT certificates from 1987 onwards, original Benelli handbooks and magazine articles. Please don't ask for bike shop service invoices, a chartered engineer rode, pampered and cossetted this lovely machine.
