Description
1970 TR6 CP chassis no. Overdrive gearbox.
Genuine 80, 000 miles from new, I bought this from an older Gentleman who had owned the car for 43 years and had decided to give up driving. He MOT, d the car every year and I have a ton of history, invoices etc for work carried out.
As the car had not been used much in the last 10 years or so it did need some light re commissioning, this consisted of new front brake calipers, new discs and pads, new brake master cylinder and new hard lines and flexi pipes (braided)
I also fitted a new distributor with electronic ignition, new cap, plugs, leads and coil.
The carbs have been fully rebuilt and set up, I do have the full and complete fuel injection system included with the car, it will need refurbishment.
It has a new alloy rad fitted (not pictured) along with new anti freeze, also a recent oil and filter (spin on) change has been done.
The wheels, tyres and spinners are brand new and probably only done around 200 miles.
The car comes with a factory hard top, also a convertible hood and frame, and a tonnau cover.
I have fitted a wood rim steering wheel (original included) I painted the dash white as the wood veneer was peeling slightly, and also fitted a pair of stage timing clocks. The gauges have had a clean and the bezzels re painted, a new overdrive switch has also been fitted.
The engine is not the original for the car but has had the head removed, skimmed and converted to run on unleaded, had new valves and guides etc fitted, it also has a lightened and balanced flywheel fitted along with a piper 276 higher lift camshaft.
The quarter bumpers are steel not fiberglass, and the decals apart from the stripe and flag on roof are easily removable if not to your taste.
The car does have some surface rust here and there, a small bit on one of the rear wings, a bit on the edge of the bonnet, and the bottom of both doors are showing a small amount, the door gaps are not perfect (it has had skins) but a lot better than a lot of others I have seen. Bonnet and boot lid gaps are spot on.
The car is in my opinion a good usable classic TR6, it isn't perfect but I think it is priced accordingly, I looked at a lot of cars before buying this one and some were awful for even more money than I am asking. I have a few spares, and lots of other paperwork, manuals etc, the car drives well, stops and handles ok and gets a lot of admiration on the road.
I am based in Ferndown, just outside of Bournemouth. I would only consider a part exchange if it was a TR4.
