Description
For sale is a solid example of the legendary MK1 Ford Mondeo. Once everywhere, especially in this 1. 8 LX spec, now a rare classic in any guise. This car runs brilliantly, wants for nothing, with a long MOT to September 2026 and recent service. Owned by an elderly lady for most of its life who has recently given up driving.
• Only 94000 miles
• 1796cc Zetec 16v petrol engine, with fuel injection
• Mechanically perfect with recent new battery
• Tilt/ slide sunroof in full working order
• Electric front windows
• Driver and front passenger airbag (rare optional extra)
• Very comfy velour seats and massive boot
• Interior is tidy and straight, equipped with central locking plus original radio/ cassette
The heating works fantastically well, the manual gearbox is slick and the engine runs beautifully.
A very reliable, simple car. Very original example, loads of history and paperwork. Even has all four original wheel trims in great condition, a real rarity now!
The downside is the car is a bit rough around the edges, the paint lacquer has peeled as per the pictures and it has had a couple of spots of welding on the sills as pictured. The welding is rock solid just not the prettiest. As can be seen the rear wheel arches are original and in great condition. The driver's side front wing and front bumper could do with some attention, fit for purpose just a bit cosmetically challenged! The car was a cat C at some point in its life, likely for the bumper damage! Not unsurprising for a 30-year-old car in any event.
Sensible offers considered. This car deserves to be used and will take you anywhere in real comfort. The best generation Mondeo in my opinion, well-built, simple and tough while being great to drive. A bit of bodywork and paint and you have a perfect Mk1 Mondeo. Far less rust prone than the Mk2s and more solid all-round. Car was first on the reg N47 BOP, which I have retained, current registration is N178 KLA. Very rare car now, fantastically nostalgic, brilliant to drive. Lots of history and 3 original keys.
Class leader in its day, driving dynamics and curvy, high quality interior were leagues ahead of its Sierra predecessor. Spacious, easy to live with and somehow for an old Ford, still cheap!
