Description
1925 Buick 25/ 25 Tourer.
Notes from the owner in Christchurch New Zealand.
NZ new. Have ownership papers back to 1935. Car lived mostly in Canterbury but also spent time in Oamaru and Nelson. Also have receipts for work done over the decades including repaint etc. One prominent owner was Dr. John Lawrence Moffett who was a well known slightly eccentric teacher at ChCh teachers' college. I have owned for 2 ½ years now. I had The Classic workshop carry out a complete inspection that included new fluids and tune up including much work to the original carburettor. ( over $4000 ) The car is very tidy but not showroom condition. It starts and runs well. One fault is the left rear wheel had stripped thread on the hub. So the hub cap won't screw on. I have made a wheel puller to facilitate wheel removal. The same wheel has some diff oil contamination when warm. I think it needs a new shedder gasket as I replaced the felt seal.
Recent work done. Reconditioned vacuum tank. Upgraded fan hub. Reconditioned wiper motor. Valve clearance done. Carburettor overhauled. Also exhaust manifold machined to suit head. Car sits on 70kph nicely and will reach 80 kph. The fan is now running on twin ball bearings inside the old hub housing.
