Description
A rare opportunity to acquire a very early Austin Seven Deluxe, originally registered August 1960, just before the model line-up changes in October 1960 and before the name was fully transitioned to “Mini”.
This example is very similar to a 1959 model year and retains many of those details and originality.
I have owned it for the last 14 years, always garage-kept, and used sparingly — typically only driven for a short period once a year.
Driven recently with no issues.
The car retains it's original 1960 registration - 8568 EL - which was off the car for a period but I had it retained to the car when I purchased it.
Exterior/ Interior
· Finished in the correct Tartan Red.
· Full repaint in the 1970s – presentable but shows its age with imperfections visible up close.
· Given how long ago the car was painted it would benefit from paint to make it perfect.
· Original pressed-steel riveted 10" wheels (rare compared to later welded wheels).
· Replacement boot lid fitted in the 1970s.
· New passenger-side front wing fitted also in the 70s.
· With the exception of these parts and the respray, I think it is still fair to call the car unrestored and unmolested.
· Some rust spots, paint fade, and lacquer peel are visible around the body.
· Minor rust in the boot—may require localised welding.
· Slight surface corrosion present on floor pan but no major structural rust.
· Good condition overall with original character retained.
· Vinyl seats show no major wear, only light deterioration to foam underneath.
· Carpets are aged and a little tired.
· Headlining is clean with no rips or staining.
· All interior electrics function correctly.
· Push-button starter works.
Lots of original service documentation including invoices, service books, lubrication chart, Buff logbook
