We are very pleased to offer a very special 1999 Rover Mini Cooper "S" Works, Sport 5. Just 25 produced of what is surely the ultimate specification Mini Cooper. This example was the 19th to be treated to the full John Cooper Garages "S" works 90 BHP upgrade and the Jack Knight 5 speed gearbox making it a Sport 5. The results are amazing with oodles of power and an impressive top speed of 105 MPH and an 8. 8 second 0-60 MPH time. These Holy Grail Coopers are rarely seen and this is the first that we have had the pleasure of preparing. Finished in the ever popular metallic Tahiti blue with the very sought after Stratos blue full length electric sunroof. It has only covered 42k in 26 years and is accompanied with a large service history folder and the original John Cooper Garages brochure. It has been enthusiast owned and well cared for, it has never been restored instead it has been preserved and is a ready to enjoy, show and more importantly drive.
On the road is where the fun starts. I have had the pleasure of driving John Cooper Garages 90 BHP Minis, they offer a great amount of smooth power and free revving acceleration giving you plenty to smile about. Easy to drive around town but where they really excel is on the open road, the Jack Knight 5 speed gearbox matches the 1275 very well with well thought out gearing, get into 5th gear and it just keeps pulling, easily keeping up with most things and ready to cruise long distances with ease as well as being a novel experience. A stainless steel exhaust gives it the burble it deserves. It is even more fun with the electric sunroof open, giving you the full wind in the hair experience. This is also an MPI Mini which stands for Multi Point Fuel Injection, all you need to do to get out on the open road is simply turn the key and go. The interior also received the full Cooper Garages treatment. Full black leather seats with there optional engine turned stainless steel dash with a matching centre console, stitched leather top and bottom dash rails, stainless steel door caps front and rear, leather door cards, John Cooper alloy door furniture and the all important 5 speed gear knob. It has its original Cooper floor matts and this model also has rear seat belts. The finish to this interior is of a very high standard and really sets this Mini apart from its Rover siblings.
This Cooper has a very solid shell with its correct vented sills, body coloured floor pans and what appears to be all of its original panels. The Paintwork is very well presented and belies its 26 year vintage. This an awesome looking Mini in the flesh, not a trailer queen but a real drivers car ready to enjoyed. This is a very rare opportunity to own a real piece of Mini Cooper history and perhaps one of the rarest Minis ever produced.
