Description
BODYWORK & PAINTWORK:
The paintwork of this Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Bertone presents itself very nicely and shines richly. There are only a couple of small spots visible, but they hardly stand out and do not detract from the appearance. The original chrome around the window frames and decorative parts is neat and the rubbers are in good condition.
At one time this GTV was equipped with a sunroof; on close inspection a faint contour in the roof is still visible. However, this does not detract from the solid impression that the bodywork gives. No direct work is required on the paint or the exterior of the car. The underside looks hard and has been well treated with tectyl.
Here and there there is some superficial rust visible, but not of an intrusive nature or directly maintenance-sensitive. As befits an Italian classic, the technology under the skin shows some traces here and there: a tiny drop or damp spot is present. What stands out is that the doors do not hang perfectly straight; the right door requires a little more attention than the left. In the water trough along the roof there is light spray mist visible.
Finally there is an extensive list of replaced parts, which can be found in the photo report.
TECHNICAL:
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Bertone starts smoothly and immediately rewards with the characteristic full sound these engines are known for. The clutch and gearbox function as they should; shifting is smooth and precise. The lights and indicators work as they should. Only the rev counter sometimes takes a moment to show activity, though it regularly works straight from starting.
During driving the car really comes to life. As the engine warms up, it sounds even richer and more engaging – exactly as a Italian classic should be. The engine, gearbox, drivetrain and brakes are in good condition and require no immediate attention.
In recent years the car has been maintained and kept by our automotive company itself. It has been driven regularly, so it certainly has not stood idle for long. This is therefore a true driver’s car, ready for many enjoyable kilometres.
Numerous technical components have also been renewed; you will find the full list of these in the photo report.
INTERIOR:
The interior of this Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Bertone is largely original and radiates the authentic atmosphere of the 1970s. There are some signs of use that suit the age of the car: for example the upholstery around the transmission tunnel shows some damage and the plastic in the fuel gauge is slightly deteriorated. However, this is not disruptive and does not detract from the presentation.
The carpet and door panels are in neat condition. The dashboard is also tidy and free of cracks or major damage. The trim on the sills shows superficial rust spots, but these remain limited and have no direct impact on the experience or use.
In short: a well-kept and original interior that emphasises the character of this classic, with a light patina that contributes to the charm of a honest, driving car.
DOCUMENTS:
The car comes with the standard registration documents, as well as an extensive list of replaced parts. No further documentation or papers are available.
The restoration process is partly documented on film; photos are available in the photo report. Maintenance, inspections and the history of the past few years have been performed and kept up by the owner, who is active in the automotive industry himself.
