Interesting and perhaps unusual, 9-3 AERO Combi-Wagon
2 litre, 2006, Petrol, 5-speed Automatic, 117, 900 miles
SAAB Fusion Blue Metallic bodywork
Irish registration 06DL11564
Imported from UK in late 2012, Original UK reg. DY56DGV

1, 500 miles since NCT -the annual statutory car test which expires 24th Nov. 2026 (see pics)

New ECU, specialist mapped in the UK from 210HP to 250HP -according to the previous owner.
The engine runs smoothly and is quiet.
Gear changes are slick and almost imperceptible.
Steering is easy yet positive.
The AERO has been mechanically tidied and sorted over the last 12 months by SAAB WISDOM, Bray, County Wicklow.
That work includes:-
Post-purchase examination and appraisal
Two routine services
New a/ c radiator and condenser
New brake servo
New front wheel bearings
New front brake pads
New NS steering gaiter
(OS steering gaiter inspected and is OK)
Replacement s/ h body control module
Replacement s/ h rear wiper motor
Pair of new Griffin seatback covers

Other points:-
New coolant radiator and longlife spark plugs by the previous Irish owner.
There are footwell lights and door lights.
The heater is excellent and the glovebox a/ c cooling is a boon.
The battery is good
There's a pair of new Pirellis on the front.
The rear tyres have sufficient tread (but note age advisory in NCT).

Next month the SID (SAAB Information Display) is due to be replaced and the inactive cruise control examined.
SAAB WISDOM has identified no other outstanding mechanical or structural work.

Overall, these incidental/ cosmetic items remain:-
The original “fusion blue metallic” paint can be scrubbed-up to look well enough, but there are paint chips (mainly around the front bumper) and an area of very poor over-painting on the lower panel of the NS front door where there had been a large "go-faster" SAAB sticker (see pic).
The plastic casings of the wing mirrors are discoloured.
A narrow black plastic side window divider is blemished.
There are no roof rails with the car.
The interior is good apart from a tear in the NSR door card/ armrest (see pic) and a tiny tear in the OSR door card.
If I was keeping the SAAB, I'd replace the driver's seat cushion (mis-matched but not torn), replace the damaged door card/ armrest and have the NSF door re-sprayed. I've completed two fast journeys across the UK without a murmur from this 20 year car.
This SAAB AERO is comfortable, quiet and exceptionally quick.
It is a pleasure to drive.
I bought the AERO in February last year and it has been an eye-opener.
I've had it looked after mechanically by the highly regarded specialist, SAAB WISDOM.
I've found no paintwork blisters or rust bubbles and done no work on the car's appearance.
The AERO has proved a dependable and fast workhorse, but is also a car with distinct presence.
This February I located and bought its hard to find replacement (a Citroen XM, presently being sorted by UK specialists Chevronics).

The AERO can be demonstrated and viewed at my home in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland.
I can personally deliver the car to Wales or South West England for the fuel and ferry charges.
No swaps, but offers from £2, 000 will certainly be considered.
