Description
£650 ONO
Up for sale is my 1982 Honda CM200T Twinstar (Registration: VEF 947Y). I purchased this as a project bike from Barkers Motorcycles in Boldon Colliery in February 2024 but have not had the opportunity to begin work on it.
Current Status:
The bike is a non-runner and has not been started during my ownership. It appears to have been off the road since the 1990s and will require a full mechanical recommissioning before returning to the road.
Mechanical Condition:
While it is not currently running, the engine is NOT seized. I can provide a walkaround video showing the engine kicking over. This provides a very solid foundation for a restoration.
Parts & Completeness:
The bike is impressively complete and remains in its original factory configuration. The only major item missing is the original carburetor; however, a Chinese clone carb is included with the sale.
Known Issues:
The front brake is currently binding/ seized, which makes the front wheel stiff to rotate, though it does still turn slightly. The bike will require a trailer or van for collection.
Paperwork:
I have the original V5 logbook from the 1990s. It is not in my name, but it matches the bike's identification numbers. This CM200T is a time capsule from the early 80s. Finding a small-capacity Honda twin that hasn't been cut up or modified is becoming increasingly rare.
Why it stands out:
Survivor Aesthetic: The original Candy Blue paint and 80s graphics are still present and have a fantastic patina.
The Perfect Project: With a 4-speed transmission and an air-cooled twin engine, these bikes are legendary for their simplicity and "bulletproof" reliability.
Solid Bones: Because the engine turns freely and the major components (minus the carb) are all present, this is a much more straightforward restoration than most bikes of this age.
Whether you are looking for a nostalgic winter project to return to showroom condition or a solid base for a period-correct custom build, this Twinstar is the ideal starting point. It’s a charming, approachable classic that deserves to be back on the road.
