Description
Opel 6/ 16 HP Landaulet – Year built 1911 – restored – rare pre-war rarity
For sale is a highly rare Opel 6/ 16 HP Landaulet from 1911 – an impressive vehicle from the early brass era.
It is a classic landaulet with a partly closed wooden frame. The rear roof area can be opened – typical for this body style – as with a cabriolet.
As part of a comprehensive restoration the frame was completely overhauled, the engine re-surfaced and technically refurbished. The body was rebuilt after historic landaulet precursors, including wooden spoked wheels. Original parts that are no longer available were faithfully replaced with high-quality components, including brass carbide headlights from Phares Ducellier.
A peculiarity is the so-called Opel "bagger oiling", in which the driver manually regulates the lubrication of the crankshaft – a fascinating technical detail from the early days of automobile construction.
The vehicle was drivable after restoration. No registration was carried out, as it is a pure collectible piece. Vehicle documents are therefore not currently available.
An exceptional collector's vehicle with impressive presence – ideal for pre-war connoisseurs, museums or ambitious collectors of historic automobiles.
