Description

Original, correct, beautiful and running strong - Fiat 2300S Coupe with body by Ghia and its original Abarth-tuned dual Weber equipped motor. This is an exceptionally clean example that has been well-cared for its whole life and retains details you are unlikely to see in another example. This is a Series 3 with the dramatic (functional) side vents and upgraded interior in original left hand drive. This car was imported from Italy by me and has since undergone a back to bare metal documented exterior restoration with (minimal) rust professionally cut out as required and repainted in the year-correct fabulous Fiat colour "Amaranto" or "Deep Wine". The time-warp original untouched interior remains largely as it left the Ghia coachworks. Original black vinyl seats and door trims with basketweave perforated panels are in superb condition with no rips or tears and only some very slight blemishing to the divers seat squab. Original burgundy carpets in excellent condition. Original un-cracked dashboard. Excellent original Nardi wood steering wheel and wooden dash with its full Veglia Instrumentation. All the details of the interior are intact, including the toggles on the gearshift gaiter, etc, etc. This 2300S Coupe has been fitted with period options of new (hugely expensive) Italian-made genuine Borrani Wire Wheels shod with specially imported Perelli Cinturatos, a new-old-stock Abarth twin exhaust, and a cut-down factory low-restriction air filter housing. Original pressed steel wheels with all hubcaps and trim rings in great condition accompany the car if required, along with the original air filter enclosure. Mechanical work has been undertaken including a full rebuild of its all-disk braking system , new clutch, and rebuilt gearbox. Drives very well with sparkling performance from its Lampredi-designed straight six, keen handling, and a sporty exhaust note. This Italian GT was my dream car and I made it perfect - but I am now focusing on the restoration of a 1963 Citroen DS Decapotable, so this wonderful Ghia Coupe must find a new home. You will not find a better example. Happy to assist with international shipping. Very interesting early history and provenance - the car's first driver was the soccer legend Giampiero Boniperti - FIFA100 (all-time worlds greatest) player for Juventus at the time when he was director of the Club. Prior to coming to Australia this car spent most of its life in Perugia, Umbria where its was kept by Agnelli family who were the owners of the Juventus Club. Car retains extraordinary "Automobile Club Socio Perugia" and registration decals from 1971 - indicating its enthusiast ownership from near new.
