For Sale: 1993 Mazda MX-5 Mk1 (Eunos Roadster) – JDM Import
Clean and classic 1993 MX-5 Mk1, the genuine Japanese-market Eunos Roadster, originally imported from Japan in 2000 by a company in Yorkshire and three days after advertising it was purchased so has only had one UK owner.
The Eunos Roadster was the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) version of the MX-5 and often came with higher trim levels and extra features compared to UK models. The Mk1 MX-5 (NA) launched in 1989 and quickly became one of the most successful affordable sports cars ever built. Inspired by lightweight British roadsters—particularly designs associated with Lotus Cars—Mazda focused on simplicity, balance, and driving enjoyment. With its iconic pop-up headlights and near-perfect weight distribution, the MX-5 revived the global roadster market and remains one of the best-selling sports cars of all time. Today, the Mk1 is widely regarded as a modern classic and continues to rise in popularity among enthusiasts.
A great opportunity to own a genuine JDM modern classic—ideal for summer driving, shows, or future investment. These Mk1 Roadsters are becoming harder to find in original, usable condition and make a fantastic entry into classic Japanese cars.
So since we got the car out due to moving, it was sent to our friends garage RM Autos in Sussex in December to be recommissioned for the road so we could drive it to Nottingham, it had two rust patches which didn’t need doing but we had previously purchased the repair panels for both sides so we had these done we also had the petrol tank flushed, brakes bled, full service, cambelt and water pump, along with a new alternator belt and battery total cost of £1500 then it went for its MOT. I haven’t cleaned the car I’ve left it as it come out of the barn after 5 years of hibernation.
The car drive’s faultless everything works, roof doesn’t leak, engine and gearbox is so quite it’s amazing.
The Mx5 was sitting in the garage for a number of years before it was moved in to the oak barn, as you can see the paint is not in good shape, now our son works in a body shop and we initially let him have the car and he was going to paint it, I was going to strip the suspension and running gear out so it was done correctly as I’m a motorsport engineer as my day job, but he has decided to sell due buying a Subaru legacy twin turbo manual off a family member which he’s all wanted again another car with only 27000 km on and can’t keep both.
I’ve taken as many pictures as possible there is no underseal like most and still has it’s factory white finish with just superficial surface rust in places, the car is lowered on Apexi suspension, it has different alloys with the white wall effect inserts, the interior has been reupholstered with black leather and in addition it’s had speakers put in the headrest.
Comes complete with all its paperwork including 3 workshop manuals, and two sets of keys, also has the roof cover and the luggage rack.
This is a perfect opportunity to buy a genuine low mileage low owner car at a price I think is fair. It also allows the new owner to restore the car as they wish.
