Description
At the start of the 1960s, Ford Motor Company stepped up its racing efforts, notably in NASCAR, where the Galaxie became one of its main weapons against Chevrolet. To boost performance, Ford developed the famous 7. 0-litre 427 engine, engineered with help from the American tuner Holman & Moody, a historic partner of the brand in competition.
Launched in 1963, the two-door coupe version of the Galaxie 500 quickly found success on the circuits. Some cars prepared by Holman & Moody were even shipped to Europe. Entered by the Willment Ford team, one of them allowed driver Jack Sears to win the British Touring Car Championship in 1963. Ford then continued developing the model to further improve its performance and competitiveness.
Today, these large American racing saloons offer an impressive show at prestigious historic events such as Goodwood Revival or the Silverstone Festival.
The car on display is in very good condition. It has notably taken part in several editions of the Tour Auto (2010, 2013 and 2014) as well as the Grand Prix de Pau. The car has also raced on circuits at Circuit Paul Armagnac and the Dijon-Prenois Circuit.
The file includes, notably, copies of Ford factory homologation documents, a French registration document, as well as an old historic technical passport issued in 2012 by the Fédération Française du Sport Automobile.
Eligible for several major historic events, including the Tour Auto, Goodwood Revival or the Sixties Endurance organised by Peter Auto, this Galaxie represents an interesting opportunity to take part in these events.
