Description
Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite XTR966 was built on the 22nd April 1959. It was supplied new in Iris Blue, with Blue trim, Black hood and was ordered with rev counter, front bumper, toughened windscreen and tonneau cover.
After many years off the road he body was restored in 1994 and its 1275cc engine fully rebuilt in 2002.
In 2018 it was given a gearbox rebuild, crankshaft oil seal conversion and waxoyl and there are invoices for new brake discs and pads, new calipers, various poly bushes, anti-roll bar bushes, link arms, wheel bearings, a Frontline Development alloy radiator, full re-trim, new steering wheel, heater box, air-ducting, steering rack gaiters, engine mountings, clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder and new exhaust silencer. Recently it has been fitted with a brake servo to further enhance the braking system.
The engine runs smoothly and maintains a good oil pressure following a recently fitted new oil pump.
With its improved braking, cooling system and performance, this Frogeye will not disappoint on the road. It’s quick, responsive, lots of fun and a joy to drive.
Under its current ownership it has not been used in the wet.
It comes with a substantial amount of history.
