Description
I have owned this car 12 years. It is in overall good to very good condition. During that time I have carried out a significant amount of restoration and some upgrades to the car.
This is an original UK RHD matching numbers car with Heritage certificate.
It is UK registered as a Historic vehicle.
Car was built November/ December 1973 and registered 14 January 1974.
The following is a summary of works done during my ownership, the list is too long so I have highlighted the following:
Sills, radius arm mounts, all jacking points, front out riggers all replaced/ welded, wax-oiled by AM specialist.
All brake calipers refurbished and fitted with SS pistons. All new OEM brake discs.
Diff cradle up-graded/ strengthened.
All suspension bushes replaced, all springs replaced, all new Koni shocks, including rear upgrade to Koni.
Engine & gearbox mounting rubbers replaced.
Full SS exhaust including manifolds.
Steering rack & pump overhauled.
Engine ignition system completely upgraded to later system.
Carburettors, replaced fuel pump, fuel lines replaced and alternator rebuilt.
Radiator re-cored, water-pump rebuilt, new header tank neck and pipework. Plus countless other details.
I have maintenance receipts back to 1982 with mileage.
Interior was refurbished, with original leather re-coloured, new carpets, later headrests fitted and rear seatbelts, by AM specialist.
The car was repainted to the current red in approx late 80's. The paint is now showing signs of its age but still looks good, chrome & ss trim is all good.
Correct refurbished GKN wheels, full set of 5 with good AVON tires.
There are some points I want to make clear for interested parties:
The air conditioning is not working, the compressor has been removed, all the parts are present to reinstate, they will go with the car, the system with need to be overhauled. The heater is not working because the vacuum pipes need to be replaced. I fitted a new, correct 4 port valve.
The air pump for the exhaust (emissions) was removed before I bought the car, I have not reinstated one.
There is some minor paint blistering on the lower front wings, there is micro blistering of paint on one of the rear wings, there are some minor dents in the roof, which are not that obvious. These minor points were all there when I bought the car and I have not considered them as the car looks really good and the paint has a lovely patina to it which I don't want to lose.
This is a lovely car with sensible upgrades to give a reliable, usable classic. The car was originally a metallic gold colour according to the Heritage certificate, 1970's metallic paints were not very good so the car was completely repainted in Red mid to late 80's.
I have old MoT's dating back to 1980, these document the mileage which I believe to be correct.
The car is very smart and presentable, always gets plenty of attention when I take it to shows and days out etc.
The colour combination of Red with cream interior looks really eye catching, with good chrome. The interior looks great, with recoloured leather, new carpets and very good original headlining, the correct steering wheel and all gauge's work.
