Description
1936 Austin 12/ 4 London Taxi with bodywork by Ricketts of Euston. Only a handful of Ricketts bodied cabs are known to have survived. An older restoration which still presents well. 3 quarter landaulette body giving an extra side window at the rear. Interior very original and in remarkably good condition. These Ricketts cabs were more expensive than the standard Jones and Strachan models. Mechanically good and drives well. Comes complete with all the original fittings including taxi meter, PCO licence plate and fare table. Can be viewed by mutual agreement in East London E17. Happy to provide more information and any additional photographs. A unique part of London taxicab history. Sit in the seat and imagine all the fares that this wonderful old taxi has carried over the many years it worked in London including working throughout WW2. The hood folds down in the rear making summer motoring a very pleasant experience. Attracts enormous interest wherever it goes.
