1965 Sunbeam Tiger DDG997C - Primera matriculación 5 de abril de 1965.
Two known previous owners prior to 2023, Alastair Naylor in the 1970's who with his brother developed and built 100 TF1700’s a derivative of the MG TF with approval from Austin Rover. The Naylor brothers were enthusiastic and successful racers in the decades following and were probably responsible for installing the higher capacity 289 cubic inch (4. 7 litre) in the car today. The Tiger was sold to a new owner in 2005 and completed regulation rallies and hill climbs in Northern Ireland. In 2013, Rosemary Smith, Irish rally driver (who drove a Works Tiger in the 1966 Monte Carlo Rallye) completed demonstration runs in the car at the Cultra Hill Climb.
Recent History
Purchased by the current owner in May 2023 and returned to the mainland, the car has been extensively improved with approximately £20, 000 spent in the last two years.
Highlights include: Engine 289 V8 rebuilt with new Edelbrock e-street aluminium heads, rockers, and all associated components. New hand-built stainless steel exhaust system, new flywheel, sports clutch and pressure plate. New Brembo 4-pot callipers and new air-cooled discs. New alternator, battery, brake servo, master cylinder, brake pipes. The car is now equipped with full Luminition electric ignition a Holley 600 CFM carburettor and rolling road tuned to250 BHP. The front suspension has been entirely rebuilt and restored with polyurethane bushes. Spax adjustable dampers all round are a bonus controlling 15-inch replica minilites shod with Proxies intermediate track/ road tyres.
Both bumpers have been professionally re-chromed and the following have been replaced:
Classic sports seats, oil pump, new remote oil filter system, water pump, sump, all bulbs now led, MSD competition HT leads, heater matrix, high performance starter motor, Radtec aluminium radiator, electric cooling fans, Jaeger water temperature gauge.
The car has a matching restored hardtop, full roll cage, tonneau cover and period TIM stopwatches.
The car is ideal for hill climbs, track days and is of course road legal. 250 hp in this car is not for the faint hearted - the performance is visceral.
