Ford Consul Convertible mk1 1955 three speed column change, four cylinder 1703 cc engine , manually operated 3 position hood , The Consul is the rarest of the Mk1s there was a six cylinder Zephyr mk1 version of which there are more remaining as they where sold and preferred in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa also a left hand drive sold in America, the convertibles where altered from the saloon by Carbodies of Coventry for Ford, my car was restored back in 1990 and then fitted with the Mk2 1703 cc engine which starts well and runs smoothly, since it was restored i am the 3rd owner I do have some old mk1 owners club magazine and a practical classic magazine which has a feature on the car, it drives well bare in mind its a 71 year old car , last year I drove over 600 miles to various shows and the car never let me down, I have since owning my Consul I have spent endless hours and replaced many parts , including new Bumpers and overriders, carpet, engine mounts, cylinder head gasket (only to check bores and head) battery with cut off, thermostat, temperature sender unit, temperature gauge, electric fan, fuel filter, gaskets, clutch pressure plate, clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, rebuilt rear shock absorbers, brake flexi pipes, wheel cylinders, four engine oil changes, oil filter and more, if you have any questions I am happy to answer as best I can .
