Description
First registered on 5th January 1951 this car was put into storage after six years use and emerged again in 1984 through an ad in Exchange and Mart asking for £875. It was kept by the then purchaser for 40 years until 2023 when I bought it, three former keepers plus me.
23, 000 Javelins were made in total, built in Bradford from 1948 to 1954 when production ceased, KRW 130 is number 12452.
The cars were ahead of their time and were considered executive transport. They had monocoque construction but also a chassis, making them very strong (they won their class in three Monte Carlo rallies in the early fifties). The flat four engine kept weight low down and made for great handling. The engine was only 1500cc to avoid a higher tax bracket (although this had changed by the time the car was available for sale and went head to head with two litre vehicles).
This car is in good condition, drives very well and pulls strongly.
Its been well cared for, carburettors serviced; several oil and filter changes; five new tyres; new battery, plugs, points; all fluids replaced.
There is a V5 together with the original buff logbook, two sets of keys, maintenance manual and handbook. Lots of other associated paperwork too. MOT and Road Tax exempt.
Jowett Car Spares Ltd is part of the Jowett Owners Club, are very helpful and have a full range of spares to keep Javelins on the road. We’ve had a lot of fun taking the Javelin to shows and on runs including the VSCC days out. It’s always the subject of much attention with its British heritage; unusual flat four engine; and avantgarde design.
