Description
An ideal Restoration Project of a 1967 Mk1 MGB. I have owned the MG for around 25 years. The car has been under a tarpaulin outside for several years. Prior to that is was garage stored. It has been on ramps raised off the ground. The roof has suffered badly owing to dampness under the tarpaulin. The paint has lifted and there are areas of surface rust.
15 years ago the car had new sills and floor pans. I have photos for this work. From what I can see underneath the structure is still sound (see photos). It was well wax oiled and undersealed.
I have not tried to start the engine. The dynamo is probably seized. The batteries are dead (2x6V +ve earth). The clutch slave and master cylinder will need replacing as well as the brake wheel cylinders. The wheels are not currently turning but I will free those to aid transport. The handbrake has been left in the off position.
The fuel pump has been removed but is with the car. The fuel line will need replacing.
Inside the leather seats are in reasonable order but will need feeding with oil. One of the sun visors has broken off but still there. The car has wire wheel bolt on hubs. It would originally have been fitted with pressed steel wheels.
The chrome on the bumpers is pealing in many places (worst on the rear bumper).
The car is very close to original spec apart from the wheels. It has the original ignition, dynamo and manual 4 speed gearbox. The headlights have been changed to aid night driving but I have the originals.
I have a large folder of receipts and photos etc. I will be sad to see it go but very happy to see someone have the time to restore it.
